Blackwood Outdoor Living is pleased to show its support for Fire Door Safety Week 2026, an important industry campaign organised by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF).
As a proud BWF member, Blackwood Outdoor Living recognises the importance of supporting initiatives that promote greater awareness of safety within buildings. Our connection with the BWF also extends to our management team, with one of our directors serving on the BWF Council.
Although Blackwood Outdoor Living does not manufacture or supply fire doors, we understand the essential role that properly specified and maintained fire doors can play in protecting people and property.
This year's BWF Fire Door Safety Week takes place from 21 to 25 September 2026 and focuses on the message:
"Check it, close it: Protection starts at the door."
The campaign is designed to highlight the importance of fire doors and encourage building owners, managers, businesses and occupants to understand how they contribute to fire safety.
A fire door is more than simply a door. When correctly selected, installed and maintained, it forms an important part of a building's passive fire protection measures. Keeping fire doors in good working order and closed when required can help restrict the movement of fire and smoke, protect escape routes and give people additional time to evacuate safely.
Effective fire door safety depends on more than the installation of the correct door. Regular checks, appropriate maintenance and making sure doors are used correctly are all important in ensuring they continue to perform as intended.
The Fire Door Safety Week campaign provides an opportunity for businesses, property owners and building users to consider the condition of fire doors within their buildings and to understand the importance of reporting any issues that could affect their effectiveness.
By helping to share information and encourage greater awareness, organisations across the industry can play a part in supporting safer buildings.
As a member of the British Woodworking Federation, Blackwood Outdoor Living is proud to support Fire Door Safety Week 2026 and help promote its important safety message to our customers, suppliers and wider industry network.
We encourage everyone to take the opportunity to learn more about fire door safety and consider the important role that fire doors play as part of a building's overall fire protection strategy.
Check it. Close it. Protection starts at the door.
